The way bare and brown branches gain a grand sense of purpose
The way the thinnest of twigs fill out with importance
The way the moose lays her babies in soft, frozen blankets
The way my poor feet slide while the deer remain fleet-footed
The way the pine trees bow down with silver concession
The way the Little Spokane sighs with knowing and welcome,
broadens her shoulders, and goes back to sleep.
"... pine trees bow down with silver concession . . . "
ReplyDeleteWhy couldn't I have written that??!!!
Tina--because you don't see snow-covered pine trees from your front door? xoxo
ReplyDeleteI like those pine trees, too, and the broadened shoulders of the Little Spokane.
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year, Erin!
everything in this list has "a way" about it ... great list!
ReplyDeleteThe way use used repetition to create a list of nature's wonders was most effective. We are lucky to live in the midst of beauty.
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year

I love this list Erin.
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year to you.
Pamela
Beautiful. Every word. Happy New Year! xoxo
ReplyDeleteThis is lovely, Erin. It almost (but not quite) makes me wish it snowed here more. :)
ReplyDeleteds- Thanks and happy new year to you, too!
ReplyDeleteCarolee- Thank you very much!
liv2write2day--Thank you. I kept thinking I needed to finish each line like a sentence, but decided it worked better this way. Thanks very much for stopping by.
Pamela-Glad you like it and happy new year!
Annie-Thank you xoxo
caraholman--thanks for stopping by. I never thought I'd live somewhere where it snows, so I've decided to try and appreciate the beauty of it. I'm looking forward to a little bit warmer weather, though. It's been single digits here for a few days!
Great idea - I love "silver concession."
