The sun allergic woman
Shudders
At 40 days in the desert
Appeals
Humbly for a more pigmentally appropriate
Penance
The sun allergic woman
Stands
Ankle deep in mud and dirty ice
Points
To the slow, thick thaw and
Asks
That it be enough

This is timely...the beginning of Lent and I'm in the desert (escaping the cold!)
ReplyDeleteWell done. Wear some sunscreen :-). xoxo
ReplyDeleteWell said! I feel your pain! :) Except I think if I have an allergy, it would be to cold and gray.
ReplyDeleteOh, yes, Erin, the sun allergic woman. Nice refrain through this. Redheads and blonds have the worst time with the sun.
ReplyDeletePamela
Slip Slap Slop as we say down under.
ReplyDeletelive2write2day--I'm going to the desert in about 10 days to escape the cold as well. I just have to wear hats and sun protective clothing while I'm there!
ReplyDeleteAnnie--Thank you. I will, I promise.
Tumblewords--I have a mental allergy that is triggered by the cold and gray this time of year, but my sun allergy is purely physical. :-)
Flaubert--Thanks. But we have more fun, right? Right?
Rallentanda--well said. :-)
Love the prayer of the sun allergic woman! At least she can roam the blogging world without fear!
ReplyDeleteSun allergies can be so hard! I sort of had one for a number of years (cheeks only) and think it gone, but don't want to test it. I had a friend who broke out in a rash anytime she was in the sun and kept aloe plants in her apartment to rub on the rashes. She had to dress head to foot anytime she was in the sun. So I empathize!
ReplyDeleteNice turn from the sun allergic woman to dirty ice. While the melting of winter is a welcome relief, the coming sun portends... all caught in your lovely little poem.
