Today's napowrimo prompt from readwritepoem asked us to write a poem about a car or inspired by a car.
So here it is:
I traded in my minivan
For a small, gas efficient sedan
It had become silly
A reminder of my past fertility
I no longer needed the room
It was an empty egg on wheels,
A hollow womb
Perfect!
ReplyDelete"It was an empty egg on wheels..."
ReplyDeleteBrilliant!
Wow, this went where I didn't expect it to! But, I've been there!
ReplyDeleteI love the symbolism - "empty egg on wheels." Brings up all that bittersweetness of my son moving off to college - giving me more freedom, but...
ReplyDeletewent off for sure in a diferent direction...well done
ReplyDeleteI remember doing the same thing. Empty egg on wheels, great image! Cars may outlive their purpose, but women never do!
ReplyDeleteOMG, Erin, the imagery is breathtaking.
ReplyDeleteThat is wonderful--exactly!!
ReplyDeleteI'd like to scramble my egg into a mustang...
Nice van / hatched egg symbolism!
